Egypt and Qatar discuss regional de-escalation and economic impact of Iran conflict

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Cairo’s full solidarity with Qatar and other Gulf states during talks with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Doha on Saturday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said. Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Doha on Saturday during a stopover en route to Islamabad, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said.

Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s condemnation of attacks on regional countries and its support for Gulf security and stability. Sheikh Mohammed praised Egypt’s position, particularly its mediation to enable direct US-Iran dialogue for de-escalation and preventing conflict spread, coordinated with Pakistan and Türkiye.

Talks addressed the war’s economic effects, including higher energy and food prices and global supply chain disruptions, alongside Qatar’s steps to safeguard energy infrastructure and economic stability.

Abdelatty updated his counterpart on preparations for a planned four-party ministerial meeting in Islamabad involving foreign ministers from Türkiye, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt to discuss military escalation and reduce regional tensions. Both sides agreed to close coordination to protect Arab national security and bolster diplomatic efforts for regional stability.
