Iván Espinosa de los Monteros, one of Vox's founders, announced on Wednesday that the party has notified him of his definitive expulsion.
In a video posted on X, the former deputy and party member number five said the decision did not surprise him, although it caused him some sadness. He recalled Vox's early days with Santiago Abascal, when the group was small and defended its convictions with clarity and institutional sense.
Espinosa de los Monteros, who left the leadership in 2023, had faced a disciplinary file opened in March over his criticisms of the party's direction. In his farewell message he reiterated that he will continue to defend freedom and Spain.
The expulsion adds to those of other critics such as Javier Ortega Smith and José Ángel Antelo.
