A fire broke out in a student residence on Kronoparken in Karlstad on Tuesday evening. Six people were taken to hospital, one of them seriously injured. Police have opened an investigation into gross arson.
Shortly after 10 pm emergency services and police were alerted to the fire. When firefighters arrived flames were visible in an apartment on the third floor.
– One person is seriously injured and has been taken to hospital by ambulance. Another five have suffered smoke inhalation, says Martin Tysell, duty officer at police in region Bergslagen.
The fire was under control just before 11 pm. An investigation into gross arson has been opened. No one has been arrested so far.
