A fire with open flames has erupted in a residential building on a farm in Vallkärra outside Lund. The alarm came in around 8 p.m. on Friday evening, with neighbors reporting the intense blaze visible from afar.
Emergency services from multiple stations are on site battling the fierce fire. Smoke divers initially attempted to search parts of the house but were forced to withdraw due to the heat and smoke. By 9 p.m., Joel Johansson, duty officer at the rescue service, stated that the residential building will be allowed to burn down under controlled conditions.
We unfortunately had to abandon the building that's on fire and prevent spread to surrounding structures, Johansson told Sydsvenskan.
Efforts now focus on protecting nearby buildings from spreading risks. Earlier in the evening, Johansson told TT that it cannot be ruled out that someone remains inside the house.
Police are present to assist with the extinguishing efforts, and the cause of the fire will be investigated. It is unclear if anyone has been injured.
