A villa in Alunda outside Uppsala burned down during the night to Thursday after rescue services decided to let the fire proceed in a controlled manner. No people were injured in connection with the fire.
Around 03:00 on Thursday night rescue services received an alarm about a villa fire in Alunda. Staff arrived with substantial resources but changed approach once on site.
Mathias Häglund, command officer at the rescue service, explained the decision to let the villa burn down under controlled conditions. By seven in the morning the fire had stopped but personnel remained to monitor the site.
No information is yet available about how the fire started. The incident took place in the area outside Uppsala.
