Five dead in multiple crash at Casa Blanca toll

A semi-truck crashed into vehicles queued at the Casa Blanca toll on the Zipaquirá-Ubaté road, killing five people including a minor at the start of Holy Week. Cundinamarca Governor Jorge Emilio Rey confirmed the toll and offered condolences. More than 20 people were injured.

The crash happened in the early morning of April 1, 2026, at the Casa Blanca toll on the Zipaquirá-Ubaté road in Cundinamarca. A semi-truck struck at least six queued vehicles and a motorcycle, whose rider died at the scene.

Governor Jorge Emilio Rey reported two initial deaths, followed by three more, including a minor, bringing the total to five. "We regret confirming the death of 3 new victims, including a minor, bringing the total to 5 dead after this morning's accident at the Casa Blanca toll, Ubaté road. Our sincerest condolences and solidarity to their families, friends, and loved ones in this difficult time," Rey stated.

In addition, 21 people were injured: 19 adults and 2 minors. One critically injured person was transferred from Zipaquirá Regional Hospital to La Samaritana University Hospital in Bogotá. Others received care at facilities including Zipaquirá Regional Hospital (13), Zipaquirá Functional Hospital (2), San Luis Clinic in Cajicá (3), Jorge Cavelier Clinic in Cajicá (1), and El Salvador Hospital in Ubaté (2).

Authorities continue rescue and care operations at the site. "Care and extraction efforts continue in the area, so the number of victims could change in the coming hours. From @CundinamarcaGob, we keep supporting those affected and coordinating the institutional response," the governor added. The incident highlights road risks during the high-mobility Holy Week period.
