Baby Danny’s parents obtained his birth certificate on Saturday after DNA confirmation, yet the two-month-old remains in court-ordered care while authorities assess their suitability.
Tsang Wai-bong and Kwan Pui-sin received the certificate from the Immigration Department after completing registration procedures. The department confirmed Danny was born in Hong Kong following a DNA report obtained on Friday night. The couple had initially refused a DNA test on religious and privacy grounds but agreed after their arrest on Tuesday for suspected child neglect. Their son has been placed in a children’s shelter under a court order. The Social Welfare Department met the parents on Friday and will conduct further assessments, including a home visit and evaluations of their background and financial situation. Officials plan to submit court reports and arrange suitable care to ensure the child’s safety.
