The Tribunal de Instancia Sección Social 1 d'Eivissa has upheld a claim by a canine technician against his father, former operator of Can Dog, for repeated non-payment of wages.
The judge has ordered P.A. to pay 30,456 euros in compensation equivalent to that for unfair dismissal, plus unpaid wages with 10% interest for delay. The claimant, A.A., had worked 15 years at the centre until its definitive closure in December 2025.
The ruling finds that delays in wage payments, totalling 8,395 euros for the five months before closure, amount to a serious and persistent breach of the Workers' Statute. The employer did not appear at the hearing.
Can Dog, located in Sant Llorenç de Eivissa, had faced decades of animal welfare complaints before being shut down by the Consell Insular following inspections that found unsanitary conditions.
