A new 16-kilometre pedestrian and cycle path between Uppsala and Björklinge via Lövstalöt is now complete. The project makes travel safer and more sustainable along the route.
Trafikverket began work in July 2025 converting sections of the former E4 route north of Uppsala. The project is a collaboration between Trafikverket, Region Uppsala and Uppsala municipality. The path is separated from motor traffic by railings, and 30 bus stops have been rebuilt to improve accessibility. The total cost reached approximately 90 million kronor. – When we build safe pedestrian and cycle paths we connect our towns and create better opportunities for sustainable daily travel, says Rafael Waters, chairman of the street and community environment committee. Uppsala municipality plans to construct a connecting pedestrian and cycle path in Björklinge to link the route with the local road network.
