Sega unveils Sonic statue with DNA in Chaos Emerald

Sega has created a life-sized statue of Sonic the Hedgehog containing the character's DNA inside a Chaos Emerald. The project marks the 35th anniversary of the franchise.

Sega unveiled the statue as part of anniversary celebrations. It was developed in collaboration with Transeeds, a science collective of artists, engineers and scientists.

The DNA is presented through a containment system resembling the amber in Jurassic Park. Transeeds previously created a non-functional recreation of the T-virus from Resident Evil.

The statue is scheduled for display at Sega Store Tokyo on June 23. Sega described the DNA as including terms such as Sonic BIOS and Emerald Vision.
