Williams has recruited four senior figures from rival Formula 1 teams to strengthen its technical and operational capabilities.
The team announced the appointments on Thursday. Piers Thynne, who served as McLaren’s chief operating officer until earlier this year, will join in August as chief optimisation and planning officer. He will focus on streamlining processes and introducing advanced technologies including robotics and AI.

Adrian Newey is set to step down from his role as Aston Martin Formula 1 team principal after a brief tenure to focus on technical matters. He will be replaced by Jonathan Wheatley, Audi's team principal of just one year, as the team grapples with its new Honda power unit's failures under 2026 regulations. Williams has hired former Mercedes Formula 1 engineer Dan Milner as chief engineer of vehicle technology to lead car development programs. Milner spent 14 years at Mercedes, most recently as chief engineer of research and development. He starts at Williams after gardening leave since January.
