A 44-year-old man died on Saturday after being stabbed by his 50-year-old uncle during a family dispute in Macul commune, Metropolitan Region. Police detained the attacker, according to the PDI Homicide Brigade.
On Saturday afternoon, around 2:30 p.m., Macul Municipality's Public Security and Human Security personnel responded to a family fight in the commune, awaiting Carabineros. There, a 50-year-old man stabbed his 44-year-old nephew with a bladed weapon, inflicting severe wounds.
The victim was taken to a health facility, where his death was confirmed. Police detained the attacker at the scene.
Subcommissioner Nicole Aguayo of the Metropolitan Homicide Brigade of the PDI stated that “the preliminary background corresponds to a family feud, specifically between an uncle and his nephew,” and that the attack was carried out with a cutting weapon.
The incident occurred outside a residence, on a public street. The PDI's Criminalistics Laboratory (Lacrim) is working at the site to collect evidence.
Macul Municipality, led by Mayor Eduardo Espinoza, issued a statement detailing the initial intervention by its security teams.
