طالبت مجموعة تضم 93 من كبار الموظفين المدنيين المتقاعدين بإجراء تحقيق قضائي مستقل في الإجراءات التي اتخذتها الشرطة في 20 يوليو ضد الطلاب المتظاهرين في دلهي، مشيرين إلى استخدام مزعوم لكريات الرصاص وأجهزة الصعق الكهربائي وعمليات المراقبة ضد طلاب غير مسلحين.

قال المسؤولون المتقاعدون إن الاستخدام المزعوم لكريات الرصاص وأجهزة الصعق الكهربائي وعمليات المراقبة ضد طلاب غير مسلحين يستوجب المساءلة وفتح باب الحوار. يأتي هذا المطلب في أعقاب الإجراءات التي اتخذتها الشرطة في 20 يوليو أثناء مسيرة نحو البرلمان نظمها الطلاب المتظاهرون. وقد أكدت الحكومة أنها لن ترضخ لضغوط المجموعات المحتجة.
