أعلنت فرقة "أكوا" (Aqua) الأيقونية لموسيقى اليوروبوب توقف نشاطها بعد مسيرة امتدت لثلاثة عقود، حيث كشفت عن هذا الخبر عبر إنستغرام قبيل الذكرى السنوية الكبرى لألبومها الأول.

أكدت الفرقة الدنماركية-النرويجية، المشهورة بأغنية "Barbie Girl" وغيرها من أغاني أواخر التسعينيات الناجحة مثل "Doctor Jones"، هذا الانفصال الودي في بيان مؤثر نُشر يوم الاثنين. وذكر أعضاء الفرقة أنهم قرروا "طوي صفحة أكوا كفرقة حية" مع بقاء الذكريات والمودة قوية بينهم، وذلك بعد أن باعوا أكثر من 33 مليون أسطوانة حول العالم منذ تشكيل الفرقة في عام 1995. وأشار الأعضاء الحاليون رينيه ديف وسورين راستيد ولين نيستروم إلى أن هذا القرار جاء بعد مغادرة كلاوس نورين للفرقة في عام 2016 للتركيز على مشاريع أخرى.
