Cleveland Guardians third baseman José Ramírez exited Saturday’s 3-1 victory against the Detroit Tigers with a left hamate fracture and is headed to the injured list. Two other starters also left the game early due to injuries.
Ramírez, who had started all 72 games this season, departed in the top of the sixth inning at Progressive Field. He had gone 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
Outfielders Chase DeLauter and Angel Martínez had already exited earlier. DeLauter suffered a right rib cage contusion after colliding with the right-field wall in the first inning. Martínez left with a left foot contusion after fouling a ball off his foot; X-rays were negative.
The Guardians shifted players to cover the absences. Kyle Manzardo entered at first base, Rhys Hoskins moved to left field, Steven Kwan shifted to center, and Daniel Schneemann took over at third base.
