Jotun Egypt invests over $100m in new plant

Jotun Egypt has invested more than $100 million in its manufacturing facility in 10th of Ramadan City over the past three years. The company also began local production of Passive Fire Protection products. Exports grew by more than 50 percent year-on-year.

Ibrahim El Shamy, CEO of Jotun Egypt, made the announcement on the sidelines of a press conference for the launch of the SteelMaster product. He said the company has exported to Libya, Kenya and the United States while pursuing additional markets. The firm views Egypt as a strategic hub for African markets.

The facility in 10th of Ramadan City was inaugurated two years ago and is now the company's largest plant in the region. Jotun began operations in Egypt in 1986 with its first factory in Ismailia. Despite geopolitical challenges, export shipments have shown strong growth.

Local production of Passive Fire Protection products started for the first time in Egypt. The new line will serve domestic demand and support exports in line with plans to increase local content.
