United States Ambassador Lee Lipton arrived in Manila yesterday to begin his posting, the US Embassy said. He succeeds MaryKay Carlson.
The US Embassy welcomed Lipton on social media, writing: “Mabuhay and welcome back to the Philippines, US Ambassador Lee Lipton! We look forward to your leadership as we continue to mark #USPH80 and #Freedom250, #FriendsPartnersAllies.”
President Donald Trump nominated Lipton, who was confirmed by the Senate last month. At a March hearing, Lipton said his priorities include deepening security cooperation, strengthening supply chains and advancing the Luzon Economic Corridor.
Lipton previously served as chief of staff at the US Mission to the Organization of American States in January 2025, where he worked on countering influence from the Chinese Communist Party. He first visited the Philippines decades ago while manufacturing clothing.
