Colombian President Gustavo Petro begins a diplomatic agenda this week that includes a meeting with Pope León XIV on Thursday, July 2, in Vatican City.
Petro started on Monday, June 29, a trip to Rome and the Vatican aimed at strengthening international dialogue on peace, human dignity, social justice and the defense of life.
On Wednesday, July 1, the president will meet in Rome with priest Luigi Ciotti, founder of the organization Libera.
The audience with Pope León XIV is scheduled for Thursday, July 2, at the Apostolic Palace. Petro will also speak with Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin and with Paul Richard Gallagher, secretary for Relations with States.
According to the Presidency, "with this agenda of President Petro in the Vatican, Colombia continues to consolidate its presence in international scenarios as a country that promotes dialogue, social transformation and the construction of peace with justice and dignity".
