Manager Ryu Ji-hyun announced a 24-man roster for the 2026 Asian Games baseball tournament as South Korea aims for a fifth straight gold medal.
At a press conference in Seoul on June 11, manager Ryu Ji-hyun said, "If we don't win the gold medal at the Asian Games, the competition doesn't really mean anything to us." The roster features 2024 KBO MVP Kim Do-yeong along with 21 players aged 25 or younger and three wild cards.
The tournament runs Sept. 21-27 in Japan's Aichi Prefecture. No more than three players were chosen from each KBO club. Returnees from the 2023 gold medal team include Roh Si-hwan, Kim Ju-won and Yoon Dong-hee.
Ryu noted he counted on players' mental strength and was cautious with injury selections. Ahn Hyun-min was left out due to a hamstring injury sustained in April.
