Seoul International Book Fair opens with AI theme

The Seoul International Book Fair opened Wednesday, drawing expected crowds of 150,000 amid the continuing text-hip trend among younger generations.

The 68th Seoul International Book Fair runs June 24 to 28 at COEX Exhibition Center. It features 538 publishers from 18 nations and 326 authors and speakers.

The theme Homo Duduri explores what it means to be human in the age of artificial intelligence. France serves as guest of honor to mark 140 years of diplomatic ties.

Novelist Kim Yeon-su wrote in a theme statement co-authored with AI that humans reopen the door of possibility with greater questions. First Lady Kim Hea Kyung visited booths on opening day and praised the power of books.
