On Monday afternoon, three vehicles collided on Bundesstraße 202 near the Oldenburg-Süd junction, injuring two people. One suffered serious injuries, the other minor ones. The rescue service treated the victims on site before transporting them to hospitals.
At Oldenburg's notorious accident hotspot on Kieler Chaussee, Bundesstraße 202, a serious traffic accident occurred on Monday afternoon near the Oldenburg-Süd junction to the A1. Three cars collided, with airbags deploying in two vehicles. One person was seriously injured, another lightly. Debris scattered across the road, and operating fluids leaked from several cars.
The rescue service responded with three ambulances and an emergency doctor. "No one was trapped, so all occupants could be treated immediately," said operations leader Benjamin Redey. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
The fire department secured a fuel trail spanning about 200 meters and used oil binders to prevent further spread of the fluids. The road was cleaned by street maintenance and a specialist firm. The Süd junction southbound and the adjacent section of B202 were closed for several hours to allow for recovery and cleaning.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident and the contamination. Two vehicles were towed, while one could be driven to the nearest workshop.
