تشير أبحاث جديدة إلى أن استجابة الجهاز المناعي البشري للقاحات تختلف باختلاف المواسم، حيث تظهر مستويات أقوى لإنتاج الأجسام المضادة خلال أشهر الشتاء في المناطق ذات المناخ المعتدل. وتأتي هذه النتائج بناءً على تحليل لعشرات التجارب السريرية التي شملت أطفالاً حول العالم.

جمع الباحثون نتائج 96 تجربة سريرية عشوائية شملت حوالي 48,000 طفل تم تطعيمهم ضد 14 عدوى مختلفة. وفي المناطق المعتدلة في كلا نصفي الكرة الأرضية، بلغت استجابات الأجسام المضادة ذروتها في فصل الشتاء، وهو ما يتوافق مع التغيرات في طول النهار. أما بالقرب من خط الاستواء، فكان النمط أكثر تبايناً ويعتمد على اللقاح المستخدم.
