The Dandy Warhols release cover of The Damned's 'Love Song'

The Dandy Warhols have shared a new single, a cover of The Damned's 'Love Song,' from their upcoming covers album PIN UPS. The track previews the band's tribute to influential artists, set for release on March 20, 2026. Frontman Courtney Taylor-Taylor describes the song as a personal favorite from The Damned's Machine Gun Etiquette.

Portland-based band The Dandy Warhols have unveiled "Love Song," their energetic cover of the classic track by The Damned. This single serves as the latest preview of PIN UPS, the group's forthcoming covers album, scheduled for release on March 20, 2026, through Beat The World and Little Cloud Records. The album draws inspiration from David Bowie's 1973 tribute record of the same name, featuring reinterpretations of songs by artists who have influenced the band over the years.

PIN UPS includes covers of tracks by The Cure, Gang of Four, The Clash, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Cramps, The Runaways, Violent Femmes, The Byrds, and others. These selections encompass unreleased material, deep cuts, B-sides, and contributions from tribute compilations. The album's first single, a cover of Violent Femmes' "Kiss Off," featured band member Zia McCabe on lead vocals, while "Love Song" highlights Courtney Taylor-Taylor's baritone delivery.

Taylor-Taylor shared his admiration for the original, stating, “The Damned album Machine Gun Etiquette sits in my all-time top ten. Of course, I wouldn’t be able to choose a favorite song off it but ‘Love Song’ is definitely right up there with ‘Melody Lee’ and ‘Anti-Pope.’ It is a great pleasure to sing any of them as I get to use my voice like a whip in slow motion.”

Guitarist Peter G. Holmström noted, “These are some of our favorite songs, or songs by our favorite bands, or just songs we admired.” Taylor-Taylor added, “Nearly every band we cover on here are friends of ours or artists we have had a meaningful experience with.”

This project follows The Dandy Warhols' recent releases, including the critically acclaimed ROCKMAKER in 2024 and its reimagined version Rock ReMaker in 2025, as well as a performance with The Oregon Symphony. PIN UPS will be available on vinyl, CD, and digital formats, with pre-orders open now.
