Vampire Survivors' deck-building spin-off, Vampire Crawlers, will launch on April 21 for PC via Steam, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Switch. It will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one, with mobile versions for Android and iOS planned later this year. The game is priced at £9.99 in the UK and equivalent in other regions.
The announcement confirms a release date for Vampire Crawlers, described as a deckbuilding, dungeon-crawling spin-off from Vampire Survivors. It transforms the high-speed action into a first-person card-slinging experience. Players explore the Vampire Survivors world from a new perspective amid rapid card combat, as per the official blurb: “The deckbuilding, dungeon-crawling spin-off takes the high-speed action of Vampire Survivors and turns it into a chaotic first-person card-slinging fiesta, allowing players to explore the world of Vampire Survivors from a whole new perspective, mostly because they'll be too busy slinging cards at Mach speed to take in the scenery. ”Developer Poncle shared a teaser video urging players to “stop buying drugs” and purchase Vampire Crawlers instead. Pricing is set at £9.99 in the UK, €9.99, $9.99, and ¥1200 elsewhere.Eurogamer's Bertie tested the demo and noted mixed impressions. “Vampire Crawlers works within the confines of what it does, but as a Vampire Survivors experience, it wavers,” he wrote. He praised boss encounters for nearing the original's intensity but criticized the staccato pacing and lack of strategic depth in the card mechanics: “There are moments - usually when fighting waves of creatures in a boss encounter - that Vampire Crawlers comes close to the intoxication of its source material. But the staccato nature of the game always seems to interrupt it. As a Vampire Survivors experience, it's fractured, and as a card game, it's not really detailed enough; I don't see much room for strategy or theorising here.”
