تدرس الوكالة الوطنية للبحث والابتكار في إندونيسيا (BRIN) تقنية بطانات السكك الحديدية القائمة على مركب المطاط لتعزيز سلامة النقل بالقطارات، وذلك في أعقاب حادث اصطدام في بيكاسي تيمور. أدى الاصطدام بين قطار "أرغو برومو أنغريك" وقطار "كي آر إل كوميوتر لاين" في 27 أبريل 2026 إلى مقتل 15 شخصاً. وسلط نائب رئيس الوكالة أمارولا أوكتافيان الضوء على مساهمات الوكالة في أبحاث البنية التحتية للسكك الحديدية.
