Hans im Glück opens 100th branch in Mannheim

Burger chain Hans im Glück has opened its 100th branch at Mannheim's Paradeplatz. Managing director Johannes Bühler calls the location a milestone after difficult years.

The restaurant among birch trunks was fully booked on the opening evening. According to Bühler the new location marks an important milestone for the chain.

Gastro expert Axel Weber of the Soda Group sees the chain as having arrived in the system gastronomy league. It positions itself between fast-food giants like McDonald’s and upscale burger spots.

After the pandemic and general price increases Hans im Glück faced declining guest numbers. The 2024 scandal involving co-owner Hans-Christian Limmer worsened the situation. Last year the turnaround succeeded by parting with 20 franchisees and taking over their operations.

The company plans further growth through more delivery business and new branches at easily accessible locations.
