A Minnesota man has been sentenced to nearly 22 years in prison for the second-degree murder of his mother. Nathan Davin, 46, shot and bludgeoned 74-year-old MaeDean Davin as she slept in her Duluth home last year.
Nathan Davin was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 21 years and nine months in prison, with credit for about one year already served. Court records show he shot his mother in the face while she was in a recliner and then struck her with a blunt object.
Davin, covered in blood and wearing only boxers, went to a neighbor's door and said someone had died. He also called another neighbor, claiming his mother had shot herself. Police found him on the porch of the home in the 1500 block of North 9th Avenue East.
Inside the house, officers discovered MaeDean Davin's body with a fatal gunshot wound. A blood-covered Glock 9 mm handgun was recovered, along with matching ammunition. Davin later admitted to investigators that he had killed his mother.
