An Arizona man faces first-degree murder charges after allegedly robbing and running over a 66-year-old woman in Glendale on June 20. Authorities say the suspect then attempted to use the victim's credit cards at a McDonald's.
Ali Hcaimi, 23, is accused of approaching the victim and her husband outside a house they planned to tour. He allegedly claimed they had dropped a key at a nearby Fry's store before grabbing the woman's purse and speeding away, dragging her under his Lexus.
Police tracked Hcaimi to a McDonald's where he tried to buy food with the victim's cards. Surveillance footage and items found in his vehicle, including the purse and cellphone, linked him to the crime. He maintains he was kidnapped earlier that day and did not commit the acts.
Prosecutors described Hcaimi as an extreme danger to the community, citing another alleged robbery of an elderly woman days earlier. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 26.
