CD Projekt Red has released a PlayStation 5 Pro patch for Cyberpunk 2077, adding ray tracing, PSSR AI upscaling, and new graphics modes including one that reaches 90fps. The update arrived on April 8, just a day after its reveal. It enhances visuals on the upgraded console launched in 2024.
Fans of Cyberpunk 2077 had requested a PlayStation 5 Pro update since the console's 2024 release, and CD Projekt Red delivered it swiftly. Revealed on Tuesday, April 7, the patch became available on April 8. It introduces BVH8 support for ray-traced lighting, shadows, and reflections, as the studio detailed on the PlayStation Blog: “BVH8 (8-way Bounding Volume Hierarchy) support to implement ray-traced lighting, shadows, and reflections, bringing the lighting even closer to our artistic vision for this world.” PSSR AI upscaling is also included, allowing customized visuals with fewer compromises than on base PS5 models. The 2020 open-world RPG now offers three new graphics modes on PS5 Pro. Ray Tracing Pro mode provides enhanced lighting and reflections at 30fps, or up to 40fps on displays with variable refresh rate. A standard ray-tracing option targets 60fps, while performance mode hits up to 90fps on VRR-enabled screens. Cyberpunk 2077 is available in the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium libraries, though fans continue to seek features like FOV sliders and mod support on consoles.
