Fumito Ueda thanks fans for decade-long Shadow of the Colossus search

Shadow of the Colossus creator Fumito Ueda has expressed gratitude for the fans who spent nearly a decade hunting for a possible final secret in his 2005 game. He shared his thoughts during an interview with Eurogamer after the reveal of his latest project.

Ueda spoke about the secret-hunters who gathered on PlayStation forums until their closure in 2020. He said he feels fortunate that people continue to look for hidden elements in his worlds.

"I feel so fortunate that there are people that still continue to look for things that could be hidden," Ueda explained via translator. He added that such deep interest shows players want to belong to the experience.

Ueda hopes his games leave players wondering if the world really exists and thinking about it years later. His next game, Gen Atlas, is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Epic Games Store on PC at an unannounced future date.
