Interpol Polri has begun coordinating with Myanmar security authorities after a viral video showed two Indonesian women allegedly kidnapped.
Secretary of the National Central Bureau Interpol International Relations Division Brigjen Pol Untung Widyatmoko said communication with Myanmar authorities had been carried out. He noted the two women were suspected of working at a scamming company in a rebel-held area.
The circulating video shows them handcuffed while claiming to have suffered torture and faced a ransom demand of Rp220 million. One victim named Ayu is from Garagahan, Lubuk Basung District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra, while the other named Susi is from Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands.
Brigjen Untung provided no further details on case handling or when the two Indonesians departed for Myanmar. He said additional information would be shared later.
