The investigation into the rape complaint filed by Rosa’s mother against Jérôme Barella has been assigned to the Agen branch of the Bordeaux research section. The move follows an inspection report that identified failures in the initial handling of the case by gendarmes in Condom.
The investigation was transferred after the General Inspectorate of Justice highlighted delays and lack of follow-up by the Auch Prosecutor’s Office and the Condom Gendarmerie Company. A judicial source confirmed to AFP that the case is now being handled in Agen.
The complaint had been filed on 22 August 2025 in Haute-Garonne. Rosa, then aged 11, stated she had suffered around fifty rapes between September 2024 and April 2025. Investigative steps were taken in Toulouse before the file was sent to Auch.
Jérôme Barella, the main suspect in the murder of Lyhanna, is currently held at Mont-de-Marsan prison. He faces a possible life sentence.
