Following Flamengo midfielder Jorginho's accusation, his wife Catherine Harding shared video details of the March 21 incident at a São Paulo hotel where their daughter Ada was confronted by security after smiling at Chappell Roan. Roan denied involvement, apologized, and the story drew international attention.
The incident occurred on Saturday, March 21, 2026, during breakfast at the Palácio Tangará hotel in São Paulo, ahead of Chappell Roan's Lollapalooza performance. As detailed in Jorginho's initial social media post, his 11-year-old stepdaughter Ada Law—daughter of actor Jude Law and a fan who made a poster for the singer—passed by Roan's table, looked, smiled, and returned without interacting further.
A large security guard, reportedly linked to artists rather than the hotel, approached Harding and Ada's table aggressively, accusing them of harassment and rudeness, and threatening to complain to management. Ada cried and chose not to attend the show.
On Sunday, March 22, Harding posted a video recounting: “She literally did nothing. She just looked at her and smiled. [...] He is very big. [...] He said he would complain and tell me I should teach my daughter to be better, that she is rude.” She questioned Roan's oversight of her team.
Roan responded via Instagram Stories: “I didn't ask the security to go talk to that mother and child. [...] It's unfair for security to just assume someone has bad intentions. [...] I'm sorry to the mother and daughter [...] You didn't deserve this.” She clarified the guard was not her personal security and she did not witness the event.
The story divided opinions online and gained international traction. Later, Ada met Lewis Capaldi, who welcomed her warmly.
