Efter forsinkelser er Berlin-Hamborg-strækningen planlagt til at genåbne på søndag. SPD og CDU kræver mere åben kommunikation fra Deutsche Bahn om fremtidige projekter.

Den generelle renovering af Berlin-Hamborg-strækningen begyndte i august 2025. Færdiggørelsen blev forsinket med cirka halvanden måned. Deutsche Bahn tilskrev forsinkelsen frost tidligt på året.

Transportpolitikere kritiserede planlægningen. Björn Simon fra CDU efterlyste pålidelige tidsplaner og transparent kommunikation. Anja Troff-Schaffarzyk fra SPD understregede, at projektets mangler skal nævnes klart.

Under arbejdet benyttede fjerntog og godstog omkørsler. Regionaltog kørte kun på dele af strækningen, og over 200 busser erstattede aflyste forbindelser.
