Slay the Spire 2 reverts key nerfs in latest beta patch

Mega Crit has released a new beta patch for Slay the Spire 2 that reverses several balance changes from the previous update. The developer emphasized that in-game feedback, rather than Steam review bombing, guided the adjustments. Prepared returns for the Silent character, among other tweaks.

Mega Crit deployed beta patch v0.101.0 for Slay the Spire 2 on March 27, rolling back many alterations from the v0.100.0 patch released on March 20. The update restores the Prepared skill for the Silent character, removing the replacement Prepare skill. Co-founder Anthony Giovannetti explained in the patch notes that while Sly synergies are too dominant, Prepared remains integral to the Silent's core identity. Changes to the Necrobinder's Borrowed Time and Capture Spirit cards have also been reverted. Mega Crit highlighted the in-game feedback tool as instrumental in guiding these decisions, increasing its character limit from 500 to 8,000 words. The studio tweeted: Another patch just dropped on the Beta Branch, with lots of balance adjustments from last week's beta patch! Notably: Prepared is back! So you can lower your Shivs 😅 But seriously, the in-game feedback we've received is much appreciated. Other adjustments include buffs for Ironclad, such as Cinder now exhausting a card from the hand instead of the draw pile, and Tremble gaining exhaust effects. The Regent received multiple enhancements, like Spoils of War drawing two cards, Sword Sage no longer raising Sovereign Blade's cost, and upgraded Parry providing 14 block. In contrast, the Defect saw a nerf to Voltaic, raising its cost from 2 to 3. Mega Crit noted over 15,000 negative Steam reviews last week but attributed changes to player feedback via the in-game tool. Community reactions on r/slaythespire have been largely positive, though some players question potential review bombing influence.
