Archon Studio opens pre-orders for StarCraft tabletop miniatures game

Archon Studio is launching pre-orders for its StarCraft: Tabletop Miniatures Game Founders Edition on March 10, 2026, featuring starter sets for Terran, Zerg, and Protoss factions. The game captures the essence of Blizzard's real-time strategy universe in a 32mm skirmish wargame format for 2-6 players. Production is underway, with shipping expected in late April to May 2026.

Archon Studio, known for titles like Dungeons & Lasers, has partnered with Blizzard to develop StarCraft: Tabletop Miniatures Game, a competitive wargame that translates the asymmetry of StarCraft and StarCraft II into tabletop play. First teased at Essen Spiel '25 with playable demos and a promotional Zeratul model, the game has progressed to readiness for release. Recent discussions on YouTube and Facebook AMAs confirmed that production molds are complete and rules will be released publicly on March 10, 2026.

Pre-orders for the Founders Edition begin on March 10 at 6 PM CET (12 PM ET) through ArchonStudio.com and continue until April 17, 2026. This edition includes value-packed starter sets exclusive to early buyers, with retail versions following about three months later. The Terran vs Zerg Two-Player Starter Box, priced at $199, contains rules, dice, tokens, a playmat, and modular terrain inspired by the Koprulu Sector. It features two Marine Squads of six models each, one Marauder Squad of two models, one Medic Squad of three models, one Queen, two Zergling Squads of twelve models each, and one Roach Squad of three models.

The Protoss Faction Box, at $109, provides components to build a 1000-point army, including two Zealot Squads, one Adept Squad, one Sentry, and possibly Pylon terrain. Miniatures are made from high-injection PS plastic in 32mm scale, with magnetic bases and clear parts for effects like energy shields and creep.

Gameplay emphasizes faction differences: Terrans use firepower and bunkers, Zerg swarm and evolve, and Protoss employ psionic abilities. Matches last 45-90 minutes at 1000 points, resolved with D6 dice and mechanics such as Fog of War for ambushes, Supply Limit to balance economies, and the Surge Die for tactical risks. Expansions are planned quarterly starting in Q2 2026, including units like Siege Tank and Immortal in June, and a narrative campaign by Sam Pearson after Wave 3. Tournaments are set for summer 2026, with unit boxes priced at $39-49 for modular army building.
