Arizona man charged with murder after friend left to die

Hector Corrales, 41, faces first-degree murder and kidnapping charges in the death of Aaron Goodyke, 33, who was allegedly tied to a wheelchair and abandoned in extreme heat near a Phoenix canal on June 25.

Police say Corrales and an unidentified man bound Goodyke's hands with plastic bags after he became combative during an attempt to take him to a hospital. The pair then wheeled him to the canal and left him there while temperatures exceeded 105 degrees.

Goodyke, a diabetic who had his left leg amputated below the knee in April 2026, had been staying with Corrales' mother. An affidavit describes how the suspects tilted the wheelchair, causing Goodyke to hit his head, before abandoning him with his pants around his ankles.

Witnesses found Goodyke alive but mumbling that evening. He was later discovered dead. Corrales has been booked into Maricopa County Jail, while the second suspect remains at large.
