A school-age boy died after an accident at Vallhovsskolan in Sandviken on Friday. He got stuck in a container and was taken by ambulance to hospital but his injuries proved fatal.

The alarm about the accident came in just before 5 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Police, ambulance and rescue services responded to the school where the boy had become stuck in the container for unknown reasons.

The boy later died at hospital from his injuries. Police have filed a report for causing another's death and are interviewing witnesses. The site has been cordoned off for technical examination.

Sandviken municipality has activated its POSOM crisis support group. Vallhovsskolan will remain open on Saturday to offer counseling to pupils and others affected.

"Our thoughts go to the boy's family, friends and everyone affected. In difficult moments like this it is important to talk and share what one feels", says municipal safety chief Rolf Sundqvist.
