Chirchir kündigt Baubeginn für das Straßenprojekt Nakuru-Bomet-Migori für Januar an

Verkehrsminister Davis Chirchir hat angekündigt, dass der Bau einer 143 Kilometer langen Straße, die vier Bezirke verbindet, im Januar nächsten Jahres beginnen wird.

Chirchir machte die Ankündigung am 6. Juni während einer öffentlichen Veranstaltung im Bezirk Bomet. Er sagte, das von der Weltbank finanzierte Projekt werde die Bezirke Nakuru, Narok, Bomet und Migori verbinden. Die Straße wird unter anderem durch Elburgon, Molo und Awendo führen. Es wird erwartet, dass sie die Reisezeit verkürzt und den Handel zwischen den Tee- und Zuckerrohrregionen ankurbelt. Das Projekt ist Teil des „Singapore Dream“-Plans von Präsident William Ruto, der innerhalb von sieben Jahren landesweit 28.000 Kilometer asphaltierte Straßen zum Ziel hat. Die Auftragnehmer sind bereits für andere Sanierungsarbeiten im Bezirk vor Ort.
