Designer Claudia Romero, 26, unveils her brand Erax at Madrid Fashion Week on March 17 with the 'La sobremesa' collection. She turned down a job at Ferragamo to pursue her own venture, funded by investor friends. The label blends digital avant-garde and traditional sewing.
Claudia Romero, 26-year-old founder of Erax, has scheduled a runway show with performance for the morning of March 17 at Madrid Fashion Week. In two passes, she will present her fall-winter proposal, featuring geometric corset structures replicated in cotton shirts and fake tailoring pieces. The 'La sobremesa' collection explores post-meal moments when masks drop, inspired by creative saturation and words like those mentioned by Rosalía. Romero explains: «I was blocked and saw a video of Rosalía talking about words she liked how they sounded. She said 'ojalá', 'sobremesa'... and something clicked» (El Mundo). Her collections stem from questions about human behavior, such as 'El brote', which examined mental health stigma based on Ángel Martín's book Por si las voces vuelven. «It struck me that you can have a psychotic break once in your life and, to society's eyes, be 'the crazy one' forever» (El Mundo). Erax grew organically through its community and storytelling. A key moment was the collaboration with Tana Rivera, breaking stereotypes: «Tana is in one frame and Erax in another, but for me dialogues can be established between them» (El Mundo). Before age 24, Romero worked as an independent designer. After Sfera, Milan's Marangoni School, and a Ferragamo offer in Florence, she returned to Madrid's Salamanca neighborhood. «It was Florence, Ferragamo, an idyllic scenario... but if I returned to Madrid it was to bet 100% on myself» (El Mundo). Three investor friends from her university projects funded her. The name Erax reflects the crossroads ('X') of digitalization and craftsmanship, using 3D without renouncing handmade work. The brand operates in bespoke atelier and prêt-à-porter.
