The actress, born on September 25, 1930, in Chihuahua, debuted in film at age 16 with the movie 'El sexo fuerte', sharing credits with her sister Alma Rosa Aguirre. Throughout her career, she appeared in about 50 films across various genres, including comedies, dramas, and romances, and collaborated with figures like Pedro Infante in 'Cuidado con el amor' and Jorge Negrete.
Sheinbaum shared a photo of the meeting on her social media, writing: “In Morelos, we talked with Elsa Aguirre, icon of Mexican Golden Age cinema; an example of great strength.” In the image, Aguirre appears smiling next to the president, using oxygen occasionally to care for her lung and bronchial health. The actress previously explained that she relies a bit more on oxygen but uses it for short periods to avoid full dependence.
At 95 years old, Aguirre maintains a strict discipline: she has been lacto-vegetarian for over 60 years, avoiding meat, alcohol, coffee, and tobacco. In a recent interview with TVNotas in early April 2025, she stated she feels well thanks to these habits and shared her final wish: to have her ashes scattered in a high place, away from matter.
