The Loewe Foundation opened its annual Craft Prize exhibition in Singapore on Tuesday, marking the showcase's first appearance in Southeast Asia. South Korean ceramicist Jongjin Park received the top prize of €50,000 for his porcelain and paper sculpture Strata of Illusion.
The exhibition at the National Gallery Singapore features 30 finalists from 19 countries and regions, selected from more than 5,100 submissions across 133 nations. The jury, which included new Loewe co-creative directors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, praised the works for their technical skill and innovative use of materials such as glass, lacquer, and ceramics. Sheila Loewe, president of the foundation, highlighted the growing vibrancy brought by the new directors and noted strong representation from South Korea with six finalists overall. Special mentions went to Italian jewelry designer Graziano Visintin and the Ghana-based Baba Tree Master Weavers for a large tapestry. The show runs until June 14, 2026, and underscores the continued relevance of physical craft amid advances in technology.
