Schwangere Frauen sind laut einer neuen Studie besonders attraktiv für Mücken. Forschende der Schwedischen Universität für Agrarwissenschaften (SLU) und anderer Institutionen fanden heraus, dass die Anziehungskraft auf Mücken durch den Menstruationszyklus und den Schwangerschaftsstatus beeinflusst wird.

Anhand von Duftproben der Frauen identifizierte das Team 27 chemische Verbindungen. Octenol, auch als Pilzalkohol bekannt, erwies sich als besonders signifikant und kommt in höheren Mengen bei Schwangeren vor.

Die Ergebnisse könnten die Entwicklung von Mückenfallen und Repellents verbessern. "Sodass wir zum Beispiel neue Abwehrmittel entwickeln können, die diese Duftstoffe stören", so Rickard Ignell, Professor an der SLU Alnarp, gegenüber P4 Värmland.
