Ministry of MSMEs prepares free halal certification for 500,000 businesses

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises is preparing free halal certification for around 500,000 MSME operators to meet the October 2026 obligation.

Minister of MSMEs Maman Abdurrahman made the announcement while opening the National Entrepreneurship Festival 2026 in Jakarta on Saturday. The program is prepared in cooperation with the Halal Product Assurance Agency to expand access to certification.

Maman stressed that halal certification is key to building consumer trust and opening wider market opportunities. The ministry is also strengthening other programs such as business legality access, financing, and training.

The government targets a national entrepreneurship ratio of 3.20 percent in 2026. To support this, the ministry is developing the Sapa UMKM application to reach 57 million business operators and partnering with 754 business incubator institutions.
