El Ejecutivo informó al Tribunal Superior de Delhi que no tomará posesión inmediata del Delhi Gymkhana Club tras su aviso del 22 de mayo. Cualquier acción futura seguirá el debido proceso y requerirá una notificación previa. El tribunal emitió citaciones, pero declinó dictar órdenes provisionales.

El Gobierno informó el martes al Tribunal Superior de Delhi que su notificación del 22 de mayo al Delhi Gymkhana Club invocó la Cláusula 4 del contrato de arrendamiento para la recuperación del inmueble por motivos de utilidad pública. El aviso ordenaba al club, ubicado en el número 2 de Safdarjung Road, desalojar las instalaciones antes del 5 de junio con el fin de fortalecer la infraestructura de defensa en una zona sensible.

El procurador general, Tushar Mehta, declaró que cualquier desalojo requeriría una notificación previa y seguiría lo establecido por la ley. Señaló que el propio órgano de gobierno del club había escrito a las autoridades el 25 de mayo planteando sus preocupaciones.

El juez Avneesh Jhingan observó que las garantías del Gobierno abordaron los temores sobre un desalojo forzoso o una entrega por parte de representantes. La demanda presentada por el socio Vijay Khurana y otros será vista nuevamente el 28 de julio.
