Coordinated health campaign launched in Afar schools

A coordinated health campaign has begun in schools across Ethiopia's Afar region. The two-week program runs from May 3 to May 14, 2018 in the Ethiopian calendar.

Deputy Health Minister Dr. Dereje Duguma launched the program and stressed the need for coordinated efforts in the health sector. He noted that focusing on students would help improve their overall health.

Regional Health Bureau head Yasin Habib and Regional Education Bureau head Musa Adem said the initiative covers 11 districts. They highlighted schools as key places to build healthy foundations for the next generation of citizens.

The campaign operates in schools throughout the Afar region until May 14.
