Forward Gustav Salmi-Lilja has left Mora IK despite holding a contract for the upcoming season. He has since joined Södertälje SK following an early termination agreement.
The 23-year-old player had been set to remain with Mora but the clubs reached a mutual agreement to end the deal this week. Salmi-Lilja told Mora Tidning that he had been informed of the situation by club management several weeks earlier.
He stated that the move was not his initiative and described the decision as complex. "Jag var inställd att spela en säsong till med Mora IK," he said.
Mora's club director Johan Strömwall offered a different account, saying Salmi-Lilja and his partner chose to leave and relocate. The club had viewed the forward as a key player for the coming season.
Salmi-Lilja expressed gratitude for his time at Mora while looking ahead to his new team. "Nu blickar jag framåt," he said.
