Helmholtz Centre CISPA under special review over China contacts

In mid-June Handelsblatt reported on close ties between Helmholtz Centre CISPA and Chinese universities. An independent special examiner is now investigating the matter.

The centre’s shareholders’ assembly is scheduled to meet next week. It will receive an interim report on the ongoing investigation.

Shareholders are the federal government with 90 percent and Saarland with ten percent. The investigations shake the self-understanding of one of Germany’s most renowned research centres.

What began as reporting on research contacts has developed into an international political issue.
