El presidente José Antonio Kast firmó este domingo dos proyectos de ley en el Complejo Fronterizo de Chacalluta para ampliar la retención de migrantes irregulares y sancionar su traslado interno.

Kast viajó a Arica para inspeccionar avances del Plan Escudo Fronterizo. El mandatario anunció una reforma constitucional que eleva de 5 a 60 días el plazo de retención administrativa de migrantes en situación irregular que cometieron delitos menores, prorrogable hasta dos veces por 60 días adicionales.

El segundo proyecto modifica el Código Penal para castigar la facilitación de salidas ilegales y crear el delito de tráfico de migrantes dentro del territorio nacional con ánimo de lucro. Las penas aumentan si se pone en riesgo la vida o integridad de la víctima, o si el afectado es menor de edad.

El biministro Louis de Grange informó que las intervenciones en la frontera norte alcanzan cerca de 30 kilómetros, incluyendo más de 10 kilómetros en Chacalluta y Colchane. El plazo autoimpuesto por el gobierno para esta meta vence el martes 9 de junio.
