El exjugador de la NFL Manti Te'o cree que el apoyador de los Pittsburgh Steelers, T.J. Watt, desafiará el récord de capturas en una sola temporada de Myles Garrett durante la campaña de 2026.

Te'o hizo estos comentarios el miércoles en el programa Good Morning Football. Señaló el historial de Watt, quien ha liderado la liga en capturas en tres ocasiones, así como las tendencias ofensivas de los Green Bay Packers bajo la dirección del entrenador en jefe Mike McCarthy y el mariscal de campo Aaron Rodgers.

Watt registró 22.5 capturas en 2021 para empatar la marca oficial de la NFL establecida por Michael Strahan. Garrett superó ese total con 23 capturas en 2025. Watt solo logró siete capturas la temporada pasada.

Te'o también señaló que Watt, quien cumplirá 32 años durante la temporada, tendría que acercarse al récord de grupo de edad de 19.5 capturas establecido por Robert Mathis en 2013. Dijo que espera que Watt, Alex Highsmith y Nick Herbig compitan por liderar al equipo en capturas.
